Skullgirls were posed to get a new netcode as the developer told everyone there online plans. Well today the new netcode goes live. Now this covers a few things from quicker matches to wi-fi indicators. I will post the info below but if you are a skullgirl’s fan make sure to check it out now and see the changes yourself.
The PC version of Skullgirls has been fully updated to include the previous beta improvements to the game’s online netcode along with some other changes / additions to its systems.
Number one on the list of adjustments is improved GGPO netplay offering better connections over a wider range of players with the recommended delay for ping values changed to reflect that.
Lobbies and Quick Match features have been updated as well to constantly display updated ping and jitter to get a better sense of the quality of connections to opponents before starting matches.
A Wi-Fi indicator has been added to the above modes as well that will display (WF) next to a player’s name if the game detects / suspects them to be using a wireless connection though Skullgirls designer / programmer Mike Zaimont suggests looking at the jitter will give a better impression of said results.
There are also new adjustments to make online sets flow more easily as well with the character and stage select plus end-of-match timers being turned down across the board.
These improvements are currently only available on the PC version of Skullgirls with no announced plans to bring the updated netcode and Wi-Fi indicator to the console releases at this time.
