Street Fighter subreddit has raised 17,000 for Black Lives Matters. This was through a tournament that started with 200 US dollars and has grown to 17,000. Again this is all for black lives matters.
“The Street Fighter subreddit recently hosted a tournament for Black Lives Matter charities which has currently raised over $17,000 USD. According to a report by Kotaku, the tournament started off small, with the organizer Joe Munday putting in $200 USD of his own money for the weekly event.
In a short span of time, the contributions had grown to several thousands on Matcherino’s website, which is still accepting donations. As of this time, close to 500 people in the fighting game community have contributed.
Everyone who competed in the event could designate a charity who would receive the prize money.
DualKevin took the win, and nominated Black Visions Collective, an organization founded in 2017 and based in Minnesota. The tournament raised so much money however, that the players and organizers agreed to split the donated funds between several charities.”
