Bleach Reddit had one of its users ask will Ichigo Bankai get a redesign? A question many dismiss but maybe to quickly. Too quickly as if you think about it we haven’t seen what his Bankai can do for the Thousand Year Blood War.
To explain a little better during the last arc Ichigo not only Learns he is part Quincy through his mother but that he has been tapping into that power for his Soul Reaper power where as his Soul Reaper power where coming from his hollow. This knowledge and some training allowed Ichigo to grasp his powers better such as using a his powers at the same time.
Ichigo now understanding the true nature had a new form but also a new Bankai. The one issue is the form above is not it. The Bankai is Ichigo gaining a new huge sword to use against the Quincy king. The only issue is he never really gets to. Yhwach fearing Ichigo power doesn’t allow him to use his new Bankai and thus we keep seeing him shatter it.
Even when dealing the final blow Ichigo swords reverts to its original form. So for the last arc we don’t see what this power really is. We really don’t see Ichigo Bankia really show off any power until Jump Fest. Here we see it as his strongest move but unleashing a lot of power on the enemy in front of him.
Yet if we look at Ichigo Bankai over the years this doesn’t feel right. Just getting a new sword was never Ichigo transformation as the sword came with a new look when used and that didn’t happen.
Remember Shonen say readers dropping and Tite wasn’t in the best of health. So along with rushing the story Ichigo battle against Yhwach was rushed as well. So what does this mean for the anime? It means we might see a new form when using his Bankai. A form that incorporates Quincy and hollow power for Ichigo to use. So in other words we might see something similar to his quincy form in Bleach Brave Souls or something else. We have to see when the anime aires. But those are my thoughts let me know yours.
