The King Of Fighters XIV served as a reboot for many things in the franchise and thus we are looking at The King Of Fighters XV to see how the return of these characters will be handled. With the return of Igniz, Krizlaid and Original Zero it leads us to wonder what NEST do.
In order to answer this we must make sure something is clear. How Nest is shown in the A New Beginning is not the same as they are shown in the game. In the game we believe NEST are the ones who implanted Nelson arm. Both mediums share this. Where they differ is NEST making its move as in the game it hasn’t.
In the game we see one doctor talk to Nelson as his collogues talking things in a shady manner from a another room. In the manga they have moved forward getting there revenge on those who turned there back on them as well as tried to bring back Igniz.
The revenge and resurrections failed but the idea is NEST is back and given how the game ends and what we are seeing now it strongest members are back as well. This leads us to ask what role will they play going forward.
Remember we don’t know how strong they actually are right now. In the magna it is just scientist and clones. But in the cannon story we don’t know for sure the size of NEST or who makes up its members.
The reason why this matter is if they down on members and resources then it means the group will have to lay low. Not just by making implants such Nelson arm as that will not do for them by itself. They will need more activities to gather fund a material to get back on there feet.
But even if we say they are at full strength NEST is a terrorist organization in the SNK world. Think of it as SNK version of Shadowloo from Street Fighter. So that means they will still have to regroup and make dummy cooperation’s to hide there activities.
Most likely they will try to follow Igniz and prove he is Earth rightful lord. That will be through KOF which will be something to see them try to do as they will not be funding the tournament so they will not have control in how it goes like they did f0r 99-01. But that doesn’t stop them from having activities during the events if nothing else to get revenge on all who opposed them. Probably in the same manner as A New Beginning.
With them back we will see Ikari soldiers busy keeping up but how will SNK tell the story of NEST. Keep in mind Ikari are seen as the law and will probably be used to tell what threat that was brought back by Verse is to the world. So they might not have time to talk about NEST.
This is where K team will probably come in as well as South America Team. The 2 can tell the tail of NEST as we try and follow there activities as they prepare there big move. From K being chased or attacked by those still loyal to Nest to seeing what plans NEST has with Nelson and the South America team.
That is one way SNK can go about it but will they? That is something we will have to see as we learn more about KOF XV and SNK will handle all these stories. But those are my thoughts. Let me know yours as we await for more of the game to be revealed.
