Digimon Adventure Reboot is teasing one of the series first bad guys with Devimon. We hear about this great through learning about Soundsbirdmon which the sound from its wings puts other digimon under his will. Keep in mind in the original it was dark gear the digi destined and there digimon had to fight out of the other digimon to free them.
It is noted in the article the difference as well. Not only that but there will probably be more notable differences as the series goes on that might tie Devimon to the digi destined more then before.
