Fans were excited when The King Of Fighters XV was announced last year at EVO. Since then we have been waiting for SNK to show us more of the game. This patience for information in some is running thin and it is understandable. Yet at the same time we need to wait as we know SNK wants to show it to us. The question is when and where.
We will start with the frustration. Yesterday a charity event was held by SNK to raise money to combat COVID 19 through KOF XIV gameplay between the top 8 players in Asia. The issue in the response. While we like some high level KOF gameplay many fans reacted to it by asking where is KOF XV. Some just lashing out as you will see in the tweet reaction.
This frustration is due to lack of any news while SNK seems to be moving forward with other games. The argument as to why we haven’t seen anything of KOF XV is due to having the right audience and event. In order to get the maximum reactions SNK is aiming for a fighting event to show it off. To prove it many said it would be Evo Online until it was cancelled due to Mr. Wizard.
With it being 1 whole year many fans think it has been to long to not hear anything about. Granted it has been a crazy year with the virus impacting everything but so nothing is on schedule. It still doesn’t sit well with fans especially given we see news coming out of SNK on other games. From Garou getting a physical copy for the PS4 and PC this week to the warden being unveiled as the guest DLC for Samurai Shodown we see SNK is operating and has things to share but just not KOF XV. If you have been following me you know I see that as a big issue as you are making one fan base happy while the other sits and gets angry.
Also with SNK aiming for the right event to show off the trailer fans are starting to see it as a 2021 trailer reveal. We do have other events such as Anime Evo Online as well as TGS online. To be honest hopes are on Anime Evo as I do not know SNK on announcing things at Tokyo Game Show that often. But still we are looking at a convention or large gathering during a time that is trying to be avoided.
With events looking shaky you can see why some fans just say show it. Just announce it as it is KOF this is SNK big series and everyone see it and spread the word. No need to worry about an event. Something many are asking for as we know SNK has something to show us. Kaiser said they are play testing the game in an interview with NeoGeo Now.
The reason why play testing is a sign they have much to show us is that it means the game is no loner in the concept phase. They have working models. Models which can show us the graphics of the game which many are interested in KOF XIV was a let in that department to many fans.
This only makes the wait that much harder for news but some it is a wait we all hope is worth it. A year of silence turned into a big month of charge up fan excitement is what many are hoping for as we await news of the game. Patience that fans hope will pay off as we wait to see where and when this trailer will show up. Where as with each event SNK talks about sponsoring or will focus on there games we see fans ask if the trailer will be there? A question that has not been answered yet but we hope it is sooner rather than later.
