With The King Of Fighters A New Beginning Ch 29.2 we see the return of Nightmare Geese. This version of Geese appeared in Fatal Fury to show the impact Geese had on South Town as even in his death people fear him so much that he haunts the city through fear so much it has manifested into him.
Since this does appear in KOF A New Beginning we must ask does this make it cannon for The King Of Fighters XV? Keep in mind I am not talking about Geese being totally transformed permeant. What I suggesting is that Geese will keep the power he got from Verse and use it to be able to access this form. Basically a transformation in his back pocket.
But to be fair though long time SNK fans will probably just say so then we are looking at KOF 2002 Unlimited Match Geese. And I would Say yes or no. Remember that 2002 was a dream match allowing us to play with dead characters and thus nothing was cannon as that is the nature of dream matches.
With this the ability that Geese had in the game to transform into his nightmare self would be kin to Akuma turning into Shin Akuma mid match. The only difference is that here it will be a normal transformation. Remember Nightmare Geese was SNK putting Geese in the game as a dead specter or peoples fears. Here it is an actual transformation.
Now what will that mean going forward? At the moment besides the normal buffs or speed and strength it is hard to say. You see nightmare is another version of Geese but in XIV he was just a reskin. In the manga that seems to be a different take. But we will have to wait a week before that happens. Until then we will see what happens with the KOF XV as we await for news.
