Today is an interesting day as we have Square Enix development team putting out some hints about part 2. Part 2 is in development and we are hearing something like part 1 is only the beginning and that following games will be huge. Considering the only let down was how little you got to go to never seen areas that is a good thing.
“Naoki Hamaguchi said development of the sequel has already started (we already knew that) and that it’s going pretty well. Yoshinori Kitase mentioned how the new story of Final Fantasy 7 with the Remake is “only beginning”, hinting that the sequel(s) games will be huge. He could also mean this in a more business-like way, and that more Final Fantasy 7 Remake projects could be coming besides the sequel(s), like anime, manga, novel, game spinoffs etc.”
Another point is speedy development without losing quality. Basically no one wants the development to be as long as the first. But no one wants to lost quality either. Something that usually happens when you are in a rush.
“Tetsuya Nomura knows Square Enix needs to release the sequel as fast as possible, and that’s the plan. Simultaneously, Nomura is also the one deciding whether the game is good enough or not to release and won’t make compromises. He actually wants the sequel to be even better than the first game, and asked fans to wait just a little bit more.
Nomura also said that when the next Final Fantasy 7 Remake game gets announced, he believes Square Enix will be able to make its future plans clear. Hinting that we’ll know at that point if it’ll be the final game or if a third game will be coming. Square Enix already started working on the sequel(s) for a long while now. We don’t know exactly when but as early as June 2019 is certain.”
