Today we heard that Darkstlakers trademark has been renewed. In this renewal some are seeing Capcom showing interest in the series maybe even reviving it as they have been talking about doing. Other see it as business as usual as Capcom has to renew it or lose the rights. Here we will discuss what that means.

A while back Capcom had said they would revive dormant IPs. Now with the trademark many see Darkstalkers as the next series that might get a new installment. This would be great for fans who have been itching for a new game since Darkstalkers Resurrection. And that really doesn’t count as it was a compilation.

Felling teased since Morgan is almost in every game other than Street Fighter fans would like a new installment. Similar to Bloody Roar there isn’t anything like Darkstalkers except for Omen and even that some fans would look at as a substitute. But as we get are hopes up we must remember that this is only a trademark nothing more.

Companies have to renew trademarks or lose the rights as someone else might buy it. That means Capcom if they don’t do it will have to say goodbye Morgan. So to many this is nothing to get hyped about. Also Resurrection didn’t do so well so Capcom might see that as a reason to maybe the avoid the series.

At the same time Capcom keeps referencing to Darkstalkers. Above you see SFV customs to pay tribute to the characters. Yes they did it for Red Earth as well but this is one of the many times they seem to like to call back to classic titles and bring them in. We also have Marvel Vs Capcom Inifnite which we didn’t just see Morgan but Jehad as well. Also it was rumored that there would be more DLC and that we would get Donvan a character many have been asking for to be in the game before Capcom stopped supporting it.
So in the end Capcom might be interested in bringing the series back. Whether they do or not we will see. But let me know your thoughts as we see what happens to the franchise from here.
