Fire Force Season 2 Ep 7 Road To Oasis is out and we will be breaking it down. Since this is a breakdown there will be spoilers. As such if you do not want to be spoiled please stop now and go check out the latest episode over at Crunchyroll.com or Funimation. AGAIN SPOILERS AHEAD.
The last time episode had Shinra and select few heading to main land China the source of the great calamity to finally get ahead of the evangelist in order to stop them. This team was Shinra, Arthur, Lickt, Tamaki, Ogun, Juggernaut and Pan who was in charge of them. Well that team has arrived and the first thing they do is eat dirt. No really they do and it seems to be something they might have picked up from Pan as he is eating it leaving Tamaki wondering what is this? The answer is it is anime and there is bound to be odd comedy somwhere. 
However with this weird moment we met Takeru mom who is happy to see her son but informs him that something has been stealing there potatoes. At the moment we don’t know what but it is a big deal as they are potato farmer so this is there bread and butter. But this family meeting ends with family warning the fire soldier there is a strange gas out there they need to know about. Keep in mind they don’t say what it does and it leaves are heroes to find out the hard way as only Licht decided to wear a mask leaving the other to go through the effects.
The gas basically makes everyone silly. From Tamaki making herself laugh with telephone jokes to Ogun dancing, I mean we have Takeru and Shinra destroying rocks for no reason. This isn’t that bad though as they have some idea as to what is going on as with one order from Pan everyone calms down. The thing is they calm down as a giant earth worm attack. Well they say earth worm to me it looks like a pokemon found its way into the wrong franchise.
We soon see that basically the worm is chasing after a talking mole named Schop. The mole was forced to come into earthworm territory. Schop is a talking mole who has been steeling Takeru family potato. Something that doesn’t sit well with the kind hearted giant. But it is something that will have to wait until after they are done with the worm. For that we bring in Shinra and Ogun with both can fly.
Now it is here we get to see more of Ogun abilities as we have been getting to see little of them between the opening and the 2nd episode. Here we see what he can do with his hot spears from attacking enemies to flying with Shinra. For fans of the character I should point out he has far more potential then that so keep an eye out for that.
But the worm is taken care off as Ogun and Shinra lead him far enough from the others to consider it a success. But once the fight is done it is time to question are dear talking mole Schop. Luckily he used to live in the area where the fire force is heading. A good thing as you must remember Takeru may be from China but he has never been to where they are heading making the only guide they have not the best one. But with Schope and Yata they now have good guides to get there granted they help them with there little problem.
The Oasis seems unlikely a you are talking about a forest area in the middle of the a waste land to the character. (Keep in mind when comes to Oasis that is usually how it works as they are usually found in likely places but I digress.) But it is where they are going and it is as mysterious as Yata and Schop are. I am saying that as there is no explanation given as to how they can talk in human language. They just can and that is it as they never wondered why themselves so why look into it.
As they camp out Shinra and Ogun notice a lot of fires comparing them to stars on the ground thinking they are beautiful only to see they are infernals. Shinra is ready to take them on until Yata stop them. Yata basically says there are too many and they are standing thin crust above lava. Thus facing is too dangerous and to be honest they would just be over run. Remember infernals can only be killed if you destroy there core. As such you have to hit all the cores and dealing with this many would probably be too much to deal with for a whole company much less Shinra little group. Thus it is better to have Tamaki pray for them and move on. Now this bring us to Oasis with the team getting there and soon finding something they weren’t excepting to see as in the middle of it they see Amantarasu.
This is shocking but remember there was one before the one in Tokyo that was made by Vulcan ancestors. This might be that one and I am using the word might as we don’t know. But given the area Shinra is psyched. This is a forest in the middle of waste land made most likely by the adolla burst. A good thing to Shinra and shows they should look into it and use it. That is until Lickt reminded him that it can also destroy the world as it is the method the evangelist are trying to use to do just that. Just a little reminder but it serves the point that there are 2 sides to this power. But if you look at the surroundings it look like nature just took over what was a city at one point with the stop lights and cars.
The thing is this bring us to Fire Force and the deal they mad with there new friends and with that we get a little problem. Pan wants to talk it where as Schop was thinking the fire force would beat the invaders out of the Oasis.
Shinra and Tamaki want to help Shcop and beat them out but remember they are alone. This is an investigation team and thus they aren’t there to cause trouble let alone handle a huge fight by themselves. As such Pan wants to try to see if he can talk things over with between the two sides. Shinra not realizing it is also slipping as he come under the influence of the blond woman again. Keep in mind the adolla link for her is similar to madness from Soul Eater in the way it isn’t direct control but manipulating one aspect of you. Sensing Shinra is itching to fight she is escalating that.
Now if you have been paying attention we have one issue in the fact neither Yata or Schope told us what this enemy was. Something to note as Schope keeps saying there is no talking to them. There is no reasoning as I have tried it. Soon we find out why as we see the enemy here is infernal dogs. Now i did find this funny as everyone took off for the trees with the exception of Arthur and Tamaki. Arthur takes them out and Tamaki prays for them.
Now I said funny as if you noticed Ogun and Shinra also climbed up trees. Again the 2 who can fly climbed up trees. Why climb when you can fly? I get it is the human reaction when dealing with an aggressive animal on all fours but still.
Anyway Schop explains there boss is worst and that we shouldn’t take it likely. As he says this Shinra gets a new adolla link with someone telling him to protect the forest. We have no idea who it is but it seems they are similar to the blond woman as Shinra when hearing this is mentally brought back to the same hellish place he talked to her. As to who that is we will have to see next time.
