Harada Reacts To Capcom Saying Street Fighter Is Close To Real

During the Japan Fighting Game Publisher Roundtable Capcom stated that Street Fighter was close to the real world as possible. A statement that got a few wondering what they meant. This includes Harada who basically expressed are emotions in wonder what Capcom meant by real. Here is what was quoted.

“Street Fighter is fairly close to the real life world, so we try to focus on getting characters from as many different countries as possible since we think fans will really enjoy seeing characters from their own country in the roster.” Takayuki Nakayama

“Excuse me, but the thing I was most surprised to hear is you describing Street Fighter as ‘close to the real world” Harada

“Well, we do have characters who spit fire, shoot energy and” Takayuki

“Right. I’m not so sure it fits, especially when looking at Brazil,” Harada

“Yes, yes. That’s why we made sure to introduce Brazilian characters who aren’t green as well later on” Takayuki

Now Harada wasn’t just picking Capcom as he did this to everyone at one point or another. As for Capcom they basically were trying to say there are some real world elements in the game such as airplane travel and such but to say it is the whole game is and say they aim to make it real didn’t fit well with me either. But let me know what you think about this exchange.
