Fire Force Season 2 Ep 9 The Core is out and we will be breaking it down. Since this is a breakdown there will be spoilers if you haven’t seen the episode stop now and go check it out at Funimation or Crunchyroll.com. AGAIN SPOILERS AHEAD.

Okay so in the last episode we ended with the team being split with Pan, Arthur and Licht going inside the Tabernackle while the others stood guard on the outside. They were attacked by the demon infernal Tempe as Arthur blows everyone mind as we learn he knows what Pi is.

The interesting part seeing people react saying Arthur may be a genius only to see that isn’t it and that he is just being odd. Odd as anime sometimes like to mess with the fans by having there character have a talent of posses something odd to catch us off guard. I am saying this as it is the only way to explain why he seems to know Pi because he is the king of knights and he was looking for a round table but doesn’t know what one is or Pi itself.

On the outside they keep trying to hold of Tempe and the other infernals but Shinra keeps getting distracted by the adola link he has formed with the lady in black. The link has him only hearing her which amounts to someone always whispering in your ear. I am saying that as You have to remember Shinra is the only one who can hear her.

This only adds to the problem that the fire force has no answer for Tempe since they do not have anything powerful enough to take him down. With that being the case with all of the infernals are Tempe decides it is time for them to lose one and aims to attack Tamaki but get Takeru instead. While everyone freaks out we instead get something that relates to pure comedy.

Basically all the injures that Takeru receives means nothing to him as he is perfectly fine. Mind he is supposed to be normal person but yet he is being cut up and run through but nothing happens to him. Even Shinra notes he is a quasi unkillable character. Basically this is a call back to Soul Eater but done differently.

Tempe is not amused and decides to ramp things up by attacking them with more power. As Shinra is attacked again he hears the lady in black and realizes the link is coming from inside the Tabernackle.

But as he does the team inside come the same realization as there other markers of sacrifice surrounding the core. What does that mean? It means we have someone with an Adolla burst powering the whole thing. Licht comes to this conclusion and it blows his mind as well as the others as it might mean the same thing for Tokyo.

But with that being the case Shinra on the outside realizes she might be able to give him grace and therefore a chance to put Tempe down for good but he will need time and thus enters Ogun as we see his other ability which is fire ink . This lets him increase his strength and it is one of the episodes biggest high lights.

As say that as the creator Atushi does this so well. Even though characters are not main in the story he gives them abilities or skills that make up for it. The fans love it too as manga fans will know from Soul Eater how much this happens.

Tamaki sees this in action and gives us a big comparison as she says that Ogun has been said to be on the same level of Burn with raw strength. A statement that might be true as Ogun is knocking Tempe around with ease. The issue is with the fact he isn’t able to keep him down as he cannot take out his core.

As such it is important for Shinra to do what he has to do since Ogun can’t keep this up forever. Shinra ask then for grace which might give him the power boost he needs. He begs with Scope even chiming in. After Scope chimes in the lady Black talks to Shinra and she explains she cannot help.

She is took week to offer Shinra in real power as all of her power is needed to keep Oasis going. What she can offer is very little as she can only offer it for a second. She even goes on and ask Shinra what can you do in a second and apologizes. Shinra then gives a the perfect response saying a second is plenty of time.

And it may sounds clitche but it is true. Remember he only need enough power to take out Tempe core. He doesn’t need to go all out with him in a big fight. Just enough to end it. How though is something we will have to see in the nest episode. But let me know your thoughts.
