Fire Force Season 2 Ep 14 The Ashen Reaper is out and we are breaking it down. Since this is a breakdown there will be spoilers. If you do not want to be spoiled please stop now and go check out the episode as well as previous ones over at Funimation or Crunchyroll.com. AGAIN SPOILERS AHEAD.
We being with Shinra as he see Vulcan and Lisa working on something before Vulcan quotes his rage with Haijime. Arthur then starts with Shinra and Vulcan is basically left to stop them using his gadgets.
With there fighting stopped Shinra explains that after the fire he was taken to Haijme for test which he rememebrs clearly. The test is the perfect que for Licht to make his appearance to call a meeting.
Basically Licht tells them he is a spy which they all said ya we know. Keep in mind everyone had that idea since he joined. The thing her is what Licht tell them about that Hajime wants Shinra and are upset they over looked the Adolla burst. To respond to this they have become more harsh. Which is something to take into account as Natukun the boy that Rekka awoke is there latest experiment.
Basically Obi decides they should look into it with Shinra as the bait with them going in as a group. He comes up with a plain of attacking saying it is to dangerous for Shinra to go in alone as well as wondering where Licht stands. The answer is with whoever gets him closest to the truth which makes sense as that was Licht main goal from the beginning. The is the one reason why he is teamed up with Joker.
We then go to the facility itself where we see Natukun and introduced to Kuruno. Now it is important to not Natukun as we see just how bad Rekka has messed up him. Basically the one time he met him has scared him so bad that he cannot use his power without thinking of Rekka. But that power to create a claw of flames doesn’t bother Kuruno as he basically is to skilled for Natukun to deal with.
From here we see Kuruno has a thing on picking on weaker people. This isn’t just him beating on kids but also attacking anyone who is weak as he enjoys it. For that reason he is looking forward to facing Shinra who we learn met Kuruno at the facility. Basically he was out of it then and we learn this as him and Licht are going to the facility.
So why is Shinra with Licht after all he is a spy and has no allegiances to anyone? Well one it is the best way to get into the facility and 2 Licht although not loyal has helped out the 8th many times. So he basically trust him to a degree. Especially when looking at things and seeing Licht life is on the line as well.
The plain i guess was to distract just enough to find Natukun and take him. But that will not be as easy as they think and that is just dealing with Kurono alone. Licht then explained that Kurono is on the same level as skill as Shinmon and keep in mind Shinmon took on the 8th by himself with no problem. Here it is just Shinra and that is not good as we see them throw down.
Now we see that Kuruno is as skilled as we think as he deals with Shinra with no problem. Even with the rapidman kick Shinra is not really getting far. When he does we see what Kuruno ability is and that it allows him manipulate smoke. this goes from commanding it to move to making weapons of ash. The smoke might be how he id detecting Shinra rapid as we have seen you can react to it as Arthur did.
But Shinra does ladn a blow on Kurono which even though the scientist are happy and call it a day he doesn’t and begins to blacken the window. He does so in order to focus on Shinra with no distractions. And with that we are left with this battle that is about to go down between the hero and bully for the next episode.
