Fire Force Season 2 ep 16 Mind Blown is out and we will now break it down. Since this is a breakdown there will be spoilers. Since there will be spoilers if you do not want to be spoiled please stop now and go check out the latest episode as well as past episodes over at Funimation or Crunchyroll.com AGAIN SPOILERS AHEAD.
Okay so we have Fire Force company 8 and white clad here to take Natuku from Haijime. This 3 way battle . The battle right now has Maki facing off against puppeteer while also going against Arrow and Haumea. In this battle we see another puppet from the puppeteer which is tougher then the others. It is also insulted which means Haumea can’t damage it.
Now this is also bad for Arrow who finds that she cannot deal with Maki who will not let her get distance to make her shots count. Haumea tells her not to let herself get hit and it is in this exchange we learn something about the white clade. The system they have is to match there abilities.
In Haumea case she is meant to be Charon. With her ability to control people and cover long rang he acts as the perfect shield for her. Arrow acts as the perfect shield for Sho as she can cover long rang while he can cover short and medium. Because she switched things out Haumae has messed up that system. The issue is are hot headed lightning user doesn’t want to hear and shocks Haumea saying that she better do what she says or she will kill her.
We then catch up with the others who are dealing with Charon and Kurono. Charon has most of there attention with Arthur protecting the girls from Kurono who wants to attack weak people. (Side not it is weird to see that this type of character is this strong but it is how the story goes here.) With Kurno focused on Iris and Tamaki it gives Charon the opening he needs to continue attacking.
But the thing is about this scene is that it is setting up for Retsu as Inca tells her that she will be ability soon. Before that happens we see Kurono kill some of the white clade using smoke to ignite them from the inside. Once this happens Nataku is basically a football as he taken by both teams until Charon grabs and by then the kid has stopped screaming and is just as dumb founded as the viewer is. I mean the kid is upside down with just a what is happening expression on his face.
At this point while they are playing I think basketball with Nataku we see Retsu set her ability into motion. Her ability is to revive the dead through flames. It doesn’t stop there though as we learn the big infernal from the beginning of the 2nd season was made through her as Retsu shows us.
Retsu with her creation up explains that it will be tougher than last time. On top of this infernal already being big and complicated we also see it has bee made with Nataku at the core. Thus making fighting him head on an issue. Now this change things so much that the president told Kurono that he has to work with Fire Force to get Nataku back. Of course he tells him that with insults included.
This sounds good on paper but the issue here is that Kurono with all his strength likes picking on the week. Meaning that he doesn’t want to deal with such a troublesome issue. In other words even though he says he want to help he just stands and does nothing.
From this point we get Haumea coming in and making things worse. Basically she messes with Nataku already trouble mind causing him to let out as we see Rekka images pop up in all of his memories in place of everyone else who was there. This leads to the kid snapping and Rekka appearing in his mouth. A sight that to which I must say why just why?
If this not bad enough this is causing a radiation spike. It is unclear if this Natakun power at full or is it combined with the infernals but it is becoming dangerous and they need to act. What they come up with is a emp to cancel out Haumea power using Arthur sword and the match box with Arthur thinking the matchbox is the sword in the stone. This weakens Haumea abilities so she can’t control people and causes her to go after them.
As that chase is going we see what I was talking about earlier with Kurono not really being much help. Again he is not into fighting the strong. What we do see Charon stepping in to help Shinra because he has too. Keep in mind we have 2 pillars in danger so it makes sense for him to step as not to help Fire Force but to get them back for the white clad in one piece.
The only down side to all of this is that this is running on Arthur belief so Vulcan has to play story teller and driver as he tries to keep Arthur imagination going. But if that isn’t enough we also have the puppeteer now helping Maki in order to stop Haumea from getting to Arthur and the match box. Things are getting crazy and I like it. But what do you think?
