Fire Force Season 2 Ep 21 Enemy Contact is out and we will be breaking it down. Since this is a breakdown there will be spoilers. If you do not want to be spoiled please check out this episode as well as all previous ones over at Funimation and Crunchyroll.com. AGAIN SPOILERS AHEAD.
In the last episode Juggernaut stepped up to protect Tamaki but he gave everything he has against the white clad. As such he is out in vulnerable. Not wanting anything bad to happen to him Tamaki returns the favor and prepares to protect him until they get back tot he surface.
But things are not going that well as Hinawa and Takagi get some time to talk as they fight more infernals which we learn that Hinawa is as dumb as Arthur. We have Takagi saying I guess you and my sister brought up the rear which makes sense as they are both 2nd gens and need manipulate flames since they cannot create them. To which Hinawa response by saying no we used her as a meet shield which Takagi responses is correct in yelling at him. But the conversation is interrupted by a white clade 3rd gen who can harden his body against Takagi and Hinawa. Takagi is a 2nd gen and acts as a shield but to Hinawa gun fire attacks.
Meanwhile Shinra runs into Giovani who has upgraded himself since the last time to be more prepared for combat. We are not sure just much of him was human before as the series wants to keep the audience guessing. But here he seems more bug then machine which is what he seemed like before. How that works is not clear but his new implants make him more dangerous as he not only able to challenge Shinra but he can sense what he is about to do.
During this time Maki learns her team is back in the Nether and is not happy about it. Remember the last time was a fight in half with Shinra being left in intensive care. But we will see her concern for them being there is well founded shortly for now though we see Arthur come to Back up Shinra. To be honest he just kept moving forward and bumped into him.
We then jump back to Hinawa and Takagi who while fighitng this guy who can temper his skin are discussing what is best for Maki which in a way makes sense as Takagi is thinking that Hinawa tried his sister into doing this. But also keep in mind this is what happened Inca as well as you had Charon and Shinra fighting for what they believe she wanted. The difference here is that Maki isn’t here to give her opinion or to show which one is right by answering. To be fair though i don’t know if she could give them a straight answer.
We then have the team meeting back up together with Tamaki as Obi , Vulcan and Iris join her with Licht to join later. Obi learning how his team member was treated lets the white clad have it by basically knocking them into the floor the 2nd company captain takes out the other as he sees what happened to Juggernaut.
The issue comes in what Vulcan shows Licht which shows them what the white clad are really planning to do. They intend to use the infernals as bombs to bring down the Nether on the companies and take Shinra. Remember the Nether is basically Japan subway which means the city is above them this would cause huge damage if done.
But also keep in mind that this is was a trap that the fire force walked into again as they walked into the Nether which is the white clad home turf. Even if they had the numbers they had to know to some degree that this might happen. What is different is how it happened and what the white clad are planning on doing. But with this in mind we must ask how will the fire force respond? We will have to wait in the next episode to see.
