The video released yesterday to The King Of Fighters XV which showed off the teaser for the game that teased K and Leona but also showed of concept art for Kyo, Benimaru and Shun. Orgua the creative director for KOF XIV and XV was there and talked about the game with what was shown as well as hinting a big difference with the team that will make them unlike. He said the team structure will be different from XIV which has caused fans to take it in 2 ways. You can see that video here.
The 2 thoughts that came from this was that we will either have teams that oddly formed such as maybe team Japan having Shun ei in it as Nabil of Neogeo Now suggest as this points to a restructure of them and that make sense. If they do that we can get more characters into the game as traditional teams meant more old characters would be coming back and not giving much room for new entries. And while you may look at the past rumor and says that is not right this did happen before. KOF XI is well loved by most fans and is known for having one of the biggest roasters if you count the console release as well as one of the oddest ones. To give you an example team fatal fury which primarly was Terry, Joe and Andy most of the time was Terry, Kim and Duck King and Team Japan was Iori, Kyo and Shingo.
So now where the rumors then true about these odd. Teams among the many rumor on the game we saw some with traditional teams while others didn’t. Those different is how many say it as being not true. Now to be clear it is probably not true as and I have said this before there have been so many that some of the guess are probably true. I will show you what I am talking about here.
Now again that is not the only line of thought as we have what Gunny of Orchinagi is talking back as he is talking about going back to 4v4 with striker mechanic. Yes i said back as this was first introduced to SNK not for KOF ALLstars but for the Nest Saga and was used for all games. You can see his video here.
Now Gunny is sees the team statement as a saying that they might be incorporate the team play from allstars due to it popularity that and once again we are looking at KOF XI as fans love the tag mechanic and given how it is also found in DBFZ as well as MVC you can say it is a big deal. To me though if we do get this 4v4 it is another chance to get more people.
Think about this way if we get 4 member teams we can get Shingo on team Japan. We can get all of Ash team with him, Elizabeth, Shen and Duo Lon. You can get all four of the heavenly kings also you can add new member. We ask how are we going to bring in Rock? Have him be a new member to Terry team. New member give Iori a new team to partner with Ikari warriors introducing maybe new soldier as the 4th. We get more
Now the hard part about all this is that I like both options as they work for fans but with SNK saying this is the most ambitious KOF yet we know they will give it there all. What will be the finally product produced from this is something we will have to see January 7th with the official trailer.
