Shadow Hearts has many characters that fans have come to love. One character that is vital to the story was only one time but yet he is just as part of Yuri story as any other character. I am talking about Fox Face and I think we could have worked him into Covenant.
In Sh 1 fox face is plays 2 roles. the first is as Yuri fear which haunts him as the dark side of himself that manifest in the real world. Gameplay wise he is what awaits you if you let the Malice bar turn red without taking care of it in the grave yard. This is only for the first half as he later switch out for the mask themselves when Yuri defeats him by conquering his fears.
While he plays one role I think we can get more out of him. Imagine when Yuri sees the tree in Covenant and as Jeann approaches him we see Fox face comes from the other side. Yuri is shocked and the player is wondering how is he here thinking it is the same only to see him say he is not. We then try to figure out who he is as we learn one of Yuri fusion monsters have taken on this forum and are using it to toy with him.
We will then learn that it is Radiance using him to not only try and take over Yuri body and eventually get out only to become more entertained deciding to stay and learn more about humans. All the while Jeanne knows Radiance want Yuri to get stronger as he knows his destiny.
This works as we still know Radiance role as one of the four and it can be explained here. Also how Yuri dad was able to hold him back in the first game to make sure his son didn’t lose his soul only to have lost to him before. We can use Fox Face to explain missing links in Yuri mythos that fans are curious about.
This would also work if we ever do get a remake as Fox Face can be that character who is making sure Yuri is staying on the right track and not making the same huge mistakes he did last time. For instance we can have everything happen in Shanghai as it did and once Alice rejoins Yuri Radiance makes she that Yuri prevents her death as he might have forgotten how she did in time travel.
At the same time you can still have horrible things happen to Yuri as Radiance only helped somewhat. He his fusion monster not friend. But alas those are my thoughts. Let me know yours as we await for more this series to come back as it deserves to.
