Lets Talk Shadow Hearts Who Would Trust To Be Keeping Track Of Everything Margarete Or Roger

Shadow Hearts is a great game with a great world. But given what goes on it makes you wonder who is keeping track of everything. From alien structures that are scattered through out the world and items that can summon all sort of entities it would be nice to someone is watching them after the SH party finds them? I have thought about and came up with 2 possibilities between Roger Bacon and Margarete Gertrude Zelle. Both have positives and negatives and I would like to go over them here and let you tell me what you think.

First lets start with Margarete. We meet her as a bomb maker but she is a spy causing trouble. Not only can we see this from her magic which basically her calling in attack as well as huge pan on people but through cutscenes. In Sh1 she is telling her superiors about Yuri and Alice powers. In covenant she is still working the spy scene as you wind up giving her a vile of a dangerous poison. This shows she can world reach to monitor and keep track of the crazy things that happens to the guys as well as hide the most dangerous stuff away. If not through her boss then by other means through various contacts.

But while she has positives to tracking and storing super natural she does have downsides. Margarete is a spy not a wizard. Meaning while she would be best to hide the dangerous stuff Yuri and Johnny come across she is by no means equipped to handle it. The other issue is she is not her own boss. What that means is that we have no idea what the people Margarete is talking think about the intel they are receiving. Do they think she is nuts or do they think all of these people should be locked up? Worse yet are thinking on how to use it? We have to ask as again these powerful items this group of ours gets there hands on.

This brings us to Roger who has been in all the games since his appearance in Koudelka. He is the big inventor/ wizard as we see with his house with all of its tech mix with his knowledge of magic. This then would make him perfect for not only cataloging the event and items but figuring out how to store them safely as when every one seem lost as to what is happening Roger is the guy to explain things so they know at least what they are walking into.

With that said Roger has his own flaws. For the knowledge he has Roger doesn’t seem capable of fighting anyone off. He may have immense power but he doesn’t use it. A fact that comes up when Lenny captures him to be tortured for information on the Émigré. He is also one person meaning that while Roger is at beast able to understand and arrange a safe way to hide the items he is no way capable of handle things should it get out of hand.

I will admit that at beast it will be ideal for both of them to be keeping track of what we the player finds through our travels. But let me know your thoughts as we await the day these characters return in a game we can all enjoy.
