Boruto Ch 54 Bro is out now and we will be breaking it down. Since this is a breakdown there will be spoilers. If you do not want to be spoiled please stop now and go check it out over at Viz media and Shonen Jump to catch up on this and other past chapters. AGAIN SPOILERS AHEAD.
Okay so Isshiki is down but now we have to deal with Momoshiki who is in control of Boruto body. To make matter worse Naruto is down from the fight with Ishiki leaving Sasuke who is fighting at half strength and Kawaki.
Now Momshiki isn’t at full power either but it is interesting how switching the enemy at the last moment which most anime and comics due at the last moment works nicely here but at that is not all. Momshiki is basically following through with Isshiki plain only he will use Kawaki as sacrifice. This works thanks to Karama having changed Kawaki body to 80% Ōtsutsuki. This doesn’t just explain his plains but also Boruto and Kawaki. Many people were asking if Isshiki removed karma how will we get to the time skip we were shown at the beginning of the series? Well now that has been answered.
Now as the fight goes on we learn something else through Sasuke. Sasuke notes that Momshiki is not using Karma. Keep in mind we see what he can do with a little bit of chakra thanks to his fight with Boro. So why not just absorb some? This is where the theory comes in that Momoshiki can only take over Boruto body when he is low on chakra. Another difference compared to the tail best who took over when the vessel was knocked out or enraged.
So now they have a plan but how will they execute it. As they have to get Momoshiki to absorb chakra through karma. And after he takes down Sasuke using Boruto Rasengun that only leaves Kawaki. Kawaki then bets on the fact he needs him alive and use fire jutsu on himself. Momoshiki had to save him and used Karma and as such he began to lose control as Boruto began to wake up.
Now with Boruto take control he begins to fight back and remove the horn. With the horn removed he return back to normal and falls down along side Kawaki apologizing for losing it. Now it isnt all smiles as we see something is up with Naruto as Sasuke noticed something as to what that is we don’t know. We will have to wait till the next issue.
