The King Of Fighters XV Benimaru Breakdown

The King Of Fighters XV recent trailer was all about Benimaru and while fans are still taken back by him being on the Hero team we will due a breakdown. Now if you haven’t seen the trailer yet here it is.

The new trailer was as short as the others but boy did show off a lot. First lets talk team as Benimaru is on the same team as Shun and Meitenkun. This may be surprising to many but not to too many fans as if you know your SNK history Benimaru has done this many times. Yes his home team is team Japan but he has joined other teams such as Elizabeth team in KOF XI along with Duo Lon.

Now we also have intros shown off that are both normal and against a rival according to the new info posted that rival will be Kyo which again makes sense since the two are friendly rivals. Similar to Ryu and Ken from SF or to keep things SNK Ryo and Robert. But with the emphasis on the cinematics fans who want more in story might be getting it. We also see his taunts return as he faces off with Meitenkun.

Now gameplay wise we see he has the same moves from XIV but we also see him have more use of them from a his kick uppercut now being both a command uppercut as well as in combination with his other move. We also see you can do his drill after an air kick. Nabil from NeoGeo Now noted in his comment video that you cannot do that in XIV. To give you an idea I will use Orpheus video which compares the gameplay side by side.

Now we also notice the stages are the same but are getting more detailed. The last trailer didn’t have girls on the walkway to the ring but this one does. This only tells us that we are far from seeing how these stages will look in the final version.

This bring us to the last part. Towards the end we see Benimaru going from a level 1 to a level 2 then level 3 super. The canceling is all everyone is talking about as we weren’t able to do that before. Now he does this while in max mode which only vanishes when he does level 3. But due to the fact we don’t have a hud(head up display) it is hard to tell how much meter coasted or considering we are talking about supers how many. What is clear is with ex moves being done outside of max mode that its role in XV will be different from XIV. But what do you all think.
