Guilty Gear 2020 had a new trailer at CEOtaku 2019. The new trailer was of May and Axl. May gameplay with Axl reveal. May gameplay seemed to be the same as the other Xrd gameplay. The only difference seem to be a few animation differences. But to make sure we are covered I will post the info from Guilty Gear Project as he post the move list on his site that he noticed.
As for her look she does look older but as Rizzy pointed that might be just because they are not dressing her like a kid anymore. But that dress up was due to the fact she was with Johnny and the rest of the jelly fish pirates. Her she looks like a modern tourist with her backpack and look. This makes you ask is she still with Johnny or is she traveling now on her own? We will have to wait and see her back story.
One thing I did notice is that thanks to this trailer and the other we now have an idea of what I believe will be Ky stage all around. With the stage transfer mechanic we know we will be going around the stage. Now we have seen all of Ky but Sol I am not sure as it is hard to tell since it is just desert area of sorts with dead gears.
Axl new look is the talk for him since that is all we saw. I did like though that they incorporated him seemingly having more control of his time ability. In XX games Axl would just crash in random times in Xrd we learned more about the time jumping power. Something that was explained in Xrd games and he used towards the end. We will probably see more of him in the next trailer in 2 weeks. I will say this is the most normal we have seen him dressed. To me he looks like a man going to rock concert or a big music fan on his way out to go somewhere.
If we are seeing a new trailer or 2 every month I think it is safe to say Arc is ahead on the game development then we think. By that I mean we might be seeing the game early to middle of next year in release.
May Moves
6P has returned once more, though May has a more silly facial expression this time. 89
j.S appears not to have changed much.
2D (sweep) appears to be slightly different, though we know May has multiple sweep moves, so we may see more later on.
Her intro suggests her “Water Summoning powers” have grown since the last time we saw her, so she can summon Mr. Dolphin from the ground (which is more apparent now than in any previous games, which makes her moves more visually “logical” in appearance).
Far Slash returns (and might have a barrier break feature that knocks opponents in to other areas of stages).
A new move, which appears to be a vertical version of MOROFUSHI seems to have been added. It hits twice causing a mild ground bounce, but mostly knockdown on hit.
6H (forward Heavy Slash) returns, and is just as vicious as it EVER was…
Mr. Otter has returned with his Beachball projectile, and he has a slightly different appearance this time, AND a new move, he can now “spike” the beachball with his tailfin!
Standing 5H also appears to have returned… this time adding more ground bounce and seems to have a far slash reverse gatling route.
2H (crouching Heavy Slash) also returns, with massive pop-up on counterhit, can be followed up with a vertical Mr. Dolphin (though it’s unclear if she can loop it like in older games).
Mr. Five Rivers (the Killer Whale during Deluxe Delta Bomber) can now be summoned as a stand-alone attack… this suggests to me the attack is a “chargeable summon”, meaning the longer May charges Dolphin summon, the stronger it gets (like in GG1)… only time will tell if that proves true, however.
Mr. Five Rivers also hits twice, on summon and splash exit, leading to knockback.
Great Yamada Attack (the wave at least) was also teased in the trailer too… though we haven’t seen Mr. Yamada yet (the pink whale).
That’s it for now! Hype Dolphin is HYPE!
Crowd Reaction
Encase you were wondering someone did film it and it was well received. Fans liked it so much the know the lyrics by heart.
