When it comes to The King Of Fighters XV we are looking forward to many things. How will the game look? How will it play? And will SNK continue this story for Shun as we learn about him and Verse. But as a K fan I hoping SNK decides to give K a proper rival in cannon.
K has had multiple rivals but each one has come and gone in a sense. Krizlaid was introduced as the boss for 99 with all the fighters data and the supposed real memories. These memories turned out to be from K as we learned Krizlaid was the clone. Kula was then introduced in 2000 as the anti K complete with using ice on both sides of her body and being a boss. But today we see her more as a kid that K is stuck with making sure she doesn’t go to far along with Maximina keeping an eye on both of them. K9999 was then introduced into kof 2001 as K rival but he was then kicked out for legal purposes and replaced by Nameless.
Now we have Krizlaid back thanks to Verse and SNK could introduce Nameless with Nest coming back. Remember Nameless was brought in during 2002. A dream match with no story so he doesn’t’ really count story wise as being in KOF tournament. But looking at that it means one of these 2 will be K rival since he really doesn’t have one.
We can either have the clone who is at boss level which one of the highest level of strength in the series be K rival. Story wise we don’t have much but we can have him going after K trying to bring him back to Nest or kill him. Killing him can come from either following orders or wanting to have the life K had as Krizlaid can be used as a key way into seeing K past memories.
Then we have Nameless. Nameless despite not being in a cannon kof does have a story. Basically he is fighting hoping to turn the woman he feel in love with back into a human. As you know she is his left arm right now. This reason can have one of Nest best assassins going after one of there most difficult rouge clone. Or until he sees her again in some way.
Also it would be interesting to see how Nameless reacts to Kula as she has the same powers and appearance as his dear love. This would make it more problematic but interesting that he might believe that NEST lied to him. Basically Nameless is fighting the gloves is all that is left of Isolde. Nest might be lying to him as this is the only reason why he has to fight for them.
With that covered which one would be a greater rival . Or better yet which one would SNK chose. Will SNK go with the man who is fighting to make his love whole again or will they go for the clone boss who has been shown to be a fan favorite?
Or will SNK give K 2 rivals to contend with? Would SNK bring back both Krizlaid while introducing Nameless into a story cannon game? They might but even if they do one of them would have to be the rival who is always after him. Which would that be? We will have to wait and see as we await more news on KOF XV.
