In order to try and convince Insomniac to bring back Resistance for the PS5 fans are going to try and get it trending on social media. The thing about that is Insomniac were doing that themselves which had people think they were hinting at a new game/ remaster something. This was until about a week ago and I bring that up to say I don’t know what effect this will have but hey what ever works right.
Calling all Resistance fans. Here is our plan to get Resistance trending on social media. Mark Your Calenders!
Several Resistance fans and I have talked about bringing awareness to the series again. The point of this event is to let Sony know that there is still a fanbase for the Resistance series. Even if this event doesn’t bring us a new Resistance game, it may at least lead to Sony acknowledging that a fanbase still exists! I’d prefer to have something done rather than do nothing. You never know if it may lead to something. Even if all we get in return is a “thank you Resistance fans for all your support over the years” tweet by Sony. That is a good start. We will continue this event yearly. This is a very EASY event to follow. We will not ask much of you.
Objective: To get Resistance trending on social media using the hashtag #ResistancePS5 (preferably twitter).
When: Our event date will be SEPTEMBER 6TH 2020. Remember, this is the same day Resistance 3 came out (but in 2011 obviously). The reason it is so far ahead is because we need time to build awareness for the event. We want to get as many people involved as possible before the date, or else it won’t go trending.
Hashtag (important) : We will be using the hashtag #ResistancePS5 . Our goal is to use this hashtag all on the same day (Sept 6th 2020). Our goal is to get this trending on the same day every year. With the hashtag, you can write anything you want (such as demand for a remastered trilogy, new game, or even write about your favourite memory playing the games).
Buy Resistance merch from Insomniac’s online store OR buy Resistance Retribution on PSN: Currently, these are the only ways to directly support the Resistance series financially. All the main-line trilogy games have been taken off the PSN store, so it’s not possible to buy them on PSN. Right now, the only monetary way to support Resistance is to buy a Resistance t-shirt or metal pin from the Insomniac store, OR you can purchase Resistance Retribution on the PSN store for $15. Purchases must be paid for on September 6th 2020. The most affordable way to support the series is to simply buy Resistance Retribution ($15).
Also, Resistance Retribution is developed by Bend Studio. Since Insomniac Games have stated that they no longer have any interest in making new Resistance games, Bend Studio is the only other developer worthy enough to continue the franchise. And they did a fantastic job with Resistance Retribution. Having them see waves of people downloading Retribution may give them more incentive to create a sequel. This gives us an added incentive to support this game monetarily.
For PS4 owners, get your FREE trial of PSNow and play Resistance 3. Our goal is to make R3 the most played game on PSNow for the month of September 2020: This is the only Resistance game currently available on PSNow. If Sony notices a sudden surge of players playing R3 all at once, this may incentivise them to take further action by adding more Resistance games to PSNow. The point of this is to demonstrate demand for the series. Who knows, if enough people do this, this may give them an incentive to port the games for a PS5 remaster. Even if it’s unlikely, doing nothing is worse.
Make a comment/post on one of the Resistance communities on PS4: If you are a PS4 owner, join one of the PS4 Resistance communities! Once you join, make a comment with the event hashtag. Sony can definitely track which communities are booming with activity. Them noticing a surge in the Resistance communities is a good thing for us fans.
Does this all sound crazy and farfetched? Good, because it will take desperate measures to get our voices heard. Even if at the end of the day, all this effort doesn’t get us a new game. It may at least evoke some sort of response from Sony. And that alone is worth it because it’s only just the beginning. We will find ways to build on that every year. Each year, we will find new ways to build on that demand with newer strategies. We humbly ask for your support. Even if you can’t purchase anything, using the hashtag and playing Resistance 3 on PSNow is more than enough!
