The King Of Fighters XV revealed Leona and now we will be breaking down her trailer. For those who have not seen the trailer I will post the video below. Check it out.
Now a little Leona came in kof 96 the same time we were in the middle of the Orochi saga. She replaced Heidern having similar moves as him as well as a few of her own. She is his adopted daughter with her parent being killed by Goenitz using her under riot of blood to do so. In XV we see as in the first trailer she has the same outfit as XIV. However given that SNK has had more time to polish her up we see more color and skin tones. Something you can see better a little bit with these side by side images thanks to KOF reddit. Now I say a little better as the 1st trailer had Leona in the day time. In her trailer we don’t have a day time stage to compare only the normal lighting. But there is still the small difference.
We also see that her special effects have changed more with her Leona blade having more of a punch with the explosion and the blade itself. This leads us to gameplay and as we see she has the same moves from XIV. Something you will notice clearly thanks to this side by side that is done by Orpheus.
But you will also notice the changes as well. Leona energy blades have a green color as compared to prior games where they were blue. They also seem to have a long effect when used as we see with slashing super. The biggest though is amore of a return as her ear rings can now attach to the opponent again. This was changed in XIV to have them blow up on impact only. Here we see she can mix it up which makes her a dangerous opponent to mess with as players will try there best to make sure they avoid physically touch the earing giving her that keep away or fire ball pressure.
Now that is not the only thing we have notice in the trailer. It seems we get an Outro with Leona. Where she jumps away and comes back. We have not seen that with the others like this as we see the camera work with it and not just some kick pose. The only thing we are missing is the trash talk at the end.
Now my final thoughts is this has me hoping for K as if we get his trailer next week that would wrap up all who appeared in the reveal trailer. Also as a K fan I can’t help to wonder how SNK has changed him.
At the same time I wonder why SNK is holding off on showing off the last member of the women team? It is a question I will dive into another time but let me know what you guys think.
