Activision Blizzard has been in the headlines since July following the harassment claims. While the company denied them at first, they would later change their tuns saying they would take steps to deal with the issues. But again, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to the Wall Street Journal the claims of racism, sexism and frat boy behavior have only gone up. The report mentions 700% percent increase in claims with 90% already looked into by the company. As for disciplined the article mentions dozens of employees pushed out and 40 receiving some sort of action I said again in the prior paragraph as we have been hearing a few times from ex-employees and current that nothing has changed in behavior. What has changed is upper management trying their best to silence it.
I should mention that Activision Blizzard deny these claims. But it is because of this that many have no faith in the company making the right changes. It is for this reason you are hearing things such as calls for CEO Bobby Kotick resignation. As decision to hide things and not deal with them have many seeing him as part of the problem not the solution. A problem that is affecting the business and people as seen with Lego holding off on Overwatch Lego set which was supposed to come out next month but has been delayed. Reason being is Lego is thinking about relationship with the company.
I have said before I hope things get better as no one should be treated unfairly or work in injustice conditions. As such I hope the company can keep making meaningful changes that the employees have asked for and that it really needs.
