Big news today as Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard. As it sits now the company will continue with business as usual the merger. When that happens Bobby Kotick will remain as CEO but he will be reporting to Phil Spencer who is the head of Microsoft Gaming division. What this means is if the changes aren’t happening the way they need to now hopefully when the merger is done they will.
But that is not the only thing to come out of this. According to Bloomberg the company will start making game exclusive for Microsoft, but it will also do so for Sony. The Phil puts it they enjoyed by many are all sort of Platforms and they will continue to be released on other plater forms. “Activision Blizzard games are enjoyed on a variety of platforms and we plan to continue to support those communities moving forward.” Spencer
So, with all of the buying Sony and Microsoft is doing it seems they will play nice. Something that we were worried they wouldn’t. A big concern for many gamers who didn’t want to lose their favorite multiplatform game. At least it sounds like that. We will have to see.
