The King Of Fighters XV roaster has many excited as despite getting smaller we still have hopes for some big reveals when thinking who will make it in or not. The last trailer for Heidern showed off what the Ikari leader can do but it is with him we have hopes for another big name returning to the series. I am of course talking about Rugal.
With XV had the designer Tomohiro Nakata talk about Heidern and that he would have a major role to play in the story. Heidern Ikari acts like Guile and Chun li for SF as the one representing law and order. But as for story he has only had 2 big elements. 1 one in 2000 when his friend was killed and Clone Zero made a clone to take his place and wanting revenge against Rugal.
Rugal is one of many characters fans want back. Given how he was hinted to be inside Verse and thus he must be released. Why Heidern though. Rugal and share a history as both took the other eye but Rugal came out on top in the battle. As such they share a Bison and Guile relationship with Heidern wanting to take him as being absolute evil.
Again that is just my take as we are going off what other story role Heidern can play. The other role he can play story wise would be if there was something else off about Verse. When it comes to KOF Heidern only uses one 1 team to check on things most of the time. The fact he has his usual team and another one he is taking command of makes you think there is more than 1 threat here. As to what that is we will have to find out with XV story.
To be honest though I hope it is Rugal. We have been asking to get another chance to play him. IN regards to playing it is similar with the case of the Orochi team. But Rugal died in 95 while they went in 97. So we have only been able to play them in dream matches. That said though I hope he is back as players have been requesting him. It was him and Ash as 2 of the most request characters along with a few others. As such it would make sense if SNK brought him back. Now have they is the question. A question we will have to wait and see when the game is released.
