The Sonic movies have done well. Considering not only the earning but the fact Paramount and Sega want to expand on it with another movie and tv series spin off you can say it is doing great. Seeing the return on the movie Sega wants to bring more IP to the big screen.
“If we can match the timing of game launches to the release of movies, it would be extremely effective from a marketing perspective and there are also significant benefits, such as increasing awareness of our IP and increasing the number of touch points for customers, as we achieved with the Sonic movie. We would like to take on challenges outside of the Sonic IP should the opportunity arise.” Sega
Sega is mostly well known for Sonic but ask anyone who remembers past the dreamcast and we will tell you there is a great deal of titles they can tag in for the next movie Hollywood or any streaming service is itching for. This leaves the question of which one should it be. I say that as you have to remember that again Sonic is the best known making it a interesting challenge to see who is next.
I can see Shenmue, streets of rage or a few others making it as some games can lend itself well to that big screen that draws all of our attention. Well if it is done right anyway. As to what that will be we will have to see what vice-president Haruki Satomi and Koichi Fukazawa decides to follow the blue blur with.
