King of Fighters XV was at EVO Japan 2024. Many were watched to see how the matches would go but also with one last bit of hope for a season 3. With Marco being the big news for SNK with his trailer for Fatal Fury City of the Wolves taking the internet by storm and nothing it seems that is that.
To many that is okay and not surprising. SNK said they were going to focus on Fatal Fury City of the Wolves. As such many in the game space said there would be no season 3. Given how the SNK fandom have been itching to for the sequel to Garou are getting one. Complete with other legacy FF characters unlike what the original had which was only Terry.
Still the whole thing has a feeling of not being complete. So we have 2 season. 2 boss rush characters. Many wanted 3 season to finishing things. Off. Not to get every character. Any fighting game fan will tell you given how long KOF has been going you can’t please everyone. Still there were request with this game some still wanted to see. People still wanted to see Shen since he was in multiple endings or Ash saga characters. Zarina who also appears in some endings. One last boss for boss rush with some saying it should be a nest character. Krizlaid or original zero.
But that isn’t the only reason why this feels incomplete. Many are looking at this summer to be the 30th anniversary for KOF. An anniversary that seems to have no plans. SNK hasn’t announced anything it and thus why many fans think we are done outside of patches with KOF XV. Even with news being random SNK still announced new season in the works or something. That not being the case many are saying it over for KOF for now outside of tournament and again patches. I could be wrong and maybe we do get something this summer at EVO but chances as we see are very unlikely.
